Premiere Partnerships Continue to Power the Grand Prix
DETROIT, Mich. (May 28, 2018) - With an impressive roster of corporate partners paving the way, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returns this weekend, June 1-3, at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park.
A combination of 75 national and local partners will support this weekend's three-day motorsports festival and summer celebration in the Motor City. The Grand Prix's partners will be highlighted in numerous ways throughout race weekend including on-track signage throughout the race venue, activation displays in the Midway and Meijer Fan Zone, first-class hospitality chalets for entertaining clients and employees and invaluable business-to-business opportunities with other Grand Prix partners.
Led by Grand Prix title sponsor Chevrolet, which helped bring auto racing back to Detroit in 2012, the Grand Prix is proud of the support the event generates annually. This marks the third consecutive year that the event has worked with more than 70 partners. Fans attending the Grand Prix will once again witness the distinctive Chevrolet branding throughout the venue, including Chevy's "Find New Roads" bridges over the race track on the front stretch and between Turns 2 and 3 into the Meijer Fan Zone. The popular Chevy display returns to the Fan Zone in 2018, giving Great Prix attendees the opportunity to get a closer look at some of the Chevrolet's top vehicles.
Lear Corporation - a Grand Prix partner since 2015 - returns as presenting sponsor of the Grand Prix in 2018. On the track, Lear Corporation will be well represented with its branding and bridge in Turn 4, near the beautiful Belle Isle Conservatory. Lear is once again the sponsor of the No. 119 Lear Corporation Stadium SUPER Truck driven by Arie Luyendyk Jr. on Belle Isle. In the Midway area, Lear Corporation's display will feature an anti-distracted driving campaign. This weekend, Lear will also co-sponsor the No. 87 Coleman Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro competing in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, with 3-Dimensional Services.
DTE Energy also returns as a significant partner of the Grand Prix, this year sponsoring the Front Stretch Chalets. The distinctive double decker chalets host many of the events corporate partners and their guests, overlooking the start/finish line at the Grand Prix for a front row seat of all the on-track action. For the ninth year, DTE Energy has worked to get the iconic James Scott Memorial Fountain on Belle Isle ready to run for the summer. This Friday, June 1 at the Grand Prix, the fountain will operate for the first time this year. All fans with a Fifth Third Bank paddock pass will be able to access and enjoy Scott Fountain - which also serves as the new location for the Autotrader Winner's Circle in 2018 - throughout race weekend. Thanks to DTE Energy and the Grand Prix, the fountain will continue to flow throughout the summer months for all park attendees to enjoy.
"We can't thank all 75 of our corporate partners enough for their tremendous support of the 2018 Grand Prix," said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. "When you look around this unique racing venue you'll clearly see the level of support from our partners. From the signage at the track, to the interactive displays and even some of the actual cars competing on track, the Grand Prix partners have embraced the race and they want to be involved with such a positive event for Detroit and Windsor. Our partners have also helped us leave a lasting impact on Belle Isle with the improvements made on the island over the years as well as annual enhancements, like what DTE Energy does to get the Scott Fountain up and running every year at the Grand Prix."
Among the 75 partners at the Grand Prix, 11 are new supporters for 2018. The Grand Prix has also established long-lasting relationships as 26 partners have been on board with the event since 2012 and 17 sponsors have increased their level of support for this year's Grand Prix. The event's partnerships even extend beyond international borders, like the relationship with the City of Windsor, Ontario, Canada that annually sponsors the media center operations on Belle Isle.
